In the summer, we were lucky to photograph Cindy and Germain’s Lake Minnewanka wedding. Their wedding was intimate, included their close friends and family, and perfectly captured the couple’s shared vision: simple, romantic, stress-free, and deeply connected to nature.

Cindy & Germainโs Playful, Heartfelt Celebration by the Lake
Cindy and Germainโs Lake Minnewanka wedding was the kind of day that felt effortlessly joyful from beginning to end. With around twenty loved ones by their side, they kept things intimate, relaxed, and full of laughterโexactly how they imagined it.
The day began at The Peaks Hotel & Suites, where they got ready surrounded by family. The energy was light and playful, especially during their first look, which came with a hilarious twist: one of Germainโs friends surprised him by showing up in a wedding dress before the real reveal. It was the perfect icebreaker that had everyone in stitches and set the tone for the rest of the celebration.
The ceremony took place right on the lake’s edge, with mountains rising in every direction. A soft breeze moved through the air as they exchanged vows under a geometric arch adorned with flowers. The wind only added to the sense of wild beautyโthe kind you can only get at a Lake Minnewanka wedding.
After the ceremony, Cindy and Germain took a quiet moment for themselves. They hiked to a scenic spot above town, climbed into a hammock, and shared a peaceful nap. It was such a perfect reflection of their vision for the day: simple, private, romantic, and deeply connected.
They wrapped the day with a cozy reception, reconnecting with family and friends to celebrate in their own unhurried way.

Tips for Planning a Lake Minnewanka Wedding
Whether you’re planning an elopement or a small ceremony with loved ones, these tips will help you make the most of your Lake Minnewanka wedding:
1. Plan for the Weather
Mountain weather can shift fastโsun, wind, and snow might all show up. Dress in layers, bring a backup plan, and embrace the unexpected moments (they often make the best memories).
2. Aim for Privacy
Golden hour and weekday mornings are ideal for avoiding crowds. The light is softer, and the atmosphere feels much more personal.
3. Let the Landscape Lead
Lake Minnewanka doesnโt need much decoration. A simple bouquet or lightweight arch is plenty. Keeping it minimal also makes setup and cleanup a breeze.
4. Make Space for Stillness
Give yourselves time between events to breathe and be present, like Cindy and Germain relaxing in a hammock or taking a quiet walk by the water. Those unplanned pauses often become your favourite parts of the day.
6. Work with Local Vendors
From florists to officiants to photographers (hi, thatโs us!), local vendors know the terrain, the rules, and the weather quirksโand can help your day go smoothly from start to finish.
